General is the rank, or part of the name of the ranks, of the highest army officers. It is usually considered a full General (equivalent to full Admiral) and above Lieutenant General and below High General. Generals are addressed by rank and name, thereafter by subordinates as "Sir" or "Ma'am". The rank is usually abbreviated to "Gen." or "GEN".
